Petro Gazz salvaged a quarterfinal spot in the AVC Women’s Champions League, scoring its first win at the expense of now eliminated Hip Hing on Tuesday.
Bouncing back from an opening game loss to Kaohsiung Taipower, the Angels manhandled the winless Hong Kong team, 25-8, 25-12, 25-12 at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

“Everyone had a good performance. So with Rem [Palma], I expected a lot. So maybe I expected a change in atmosphere. So, she had a good performance,” coach Koji Tsuzurabara said.
“They [Gia Day and Brooke van Sickle] also were good. I think maybe, 70 percent more towards the setter. Yesterday’s game, maybe 5 percent. But today’s better than yesterday,” he added.

No one stepped up to the plate for Hip Hing with its top scorers combining for only 10 points.
