Diamondbacks place closer A.J. Puk (elbow) on IL

Syndication: Arizona RepublicArizona Diamondbacks left-hander A.J. Puk (33) pitches against the Chicago Cubs at Chase Field in Phoenix on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed closer A.J. Puk on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his left pitching elbow, amid a number of moves Saturday.

In addition to being without Puk for at least the next two weeks, the Diamondbacks optioned right-hander Bryce Jarvis and left-hander Joe Mantiply to Triple-A Reno.

While right-hander Drey Jameson was recalled from Reno, the club also purchased the contracts of right-handers J.P Feyereisen and Juan Morillo. To make room on the 40-man roster, infielder Grae Kessinger was designated for assignment.

Puk, 29, has a 3.38 ERA over his first eight outings, while converting all four of his save opportunities.

Acquired from the Miami Marlins last season, Puk is 17-20 with a 3.53 ERA and has 26 saves over 212 appearances (four starts) with the Oakland Athletics (2019, 2021-22), Marlins (2023-24) and Diamondbacks.

Jarvis, 27, had a 7.36 ERA in six relief outings this season, while Mantiply, 34, struggled to a 15.95 ERA in eight relief appearances. Mantiply had a 3.92 ERA last season in a career-best 75 appearances.

Jameson, 27, has a 2.63 ERA over 19 career appearances (seven starts) but has not pitched in the major leagues since 2023.

Feyereisen, 32, is set to make his Arizona debut after posting a 2.95 ERA over parts of four major league seasons with three different clubs.

Morillo, 26, is set to make his major league debut after eight seasons in the minor leagues.
