MANILA, Philippines—Things may be going well now for La Salle in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament but ace spiker Angel Canino believes the Lady Spikers have more to give.
Following the Lady Spikers’ dominant win over the University of the East at Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, Canino reiterated that La Salle has yet to reach its peak despite the team’s winning ways in recent weeks.
SCHEDULE: UAAP Season 87 volleyball tournament
“I can’t say that this is our peak but at the same time, we’re showing new skills and things so we’re happy for that but we’re still reaching for more,” said Canino after their 25-22, 25-13, 25-23 victory over the Lady Warriors.
“This isn’t our peak yet. I can’t say that just yet because we believe we can do more.”

Canino, like clockwork, led La Salle to the dub with 16 points built on 12 attacks and three blocks to push the Lady Spikers to their third straight victory.
Shevana Laput also helped the cause with 14 to her name and the Lady Spikers also got some commendable help from young gun Jillian Santos, who finished with six points.
With the win, La Salle moved closer to clinching a spot in the Final Four with an 8-3 record.

But Canino believes can achieve more if the team showcases a united front with three games left in the elimination round.
“[We need] discipline as a team. This win is important for us because this is where we’ll get the confidence we need for one another. I think if we continue these wins, we’ll get more of that confidence,” she said.
“Hopefully, we’ll be ready to face our next opponent and we’ll be more confident when we step inside the court.”
The Lady Spikers aim to keep up their winning ways en route to their peak when they take on the University of the Philippines, next week on Sunday at the same venue.
